11Alive Atlanta, reports in an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Atlanta rapper T.I. announced that he is retiring from music following the release of his album “Kill the King.” The self-proclaimed King of the South told PEOPLE that he “had been living a retired life…since the pandemic.” He continued by saying he was used to being home and didn’t want to work anymore, but he felt like he owed his fans one more album.
This is the second time T.I. announced he was stepping away from the music scene. In 2024, the self-proclaimed King of the South announced he was retiring from performing during an appearance on Atlanta’s 96.1 The Beat’s “Rari at 2.” Then, two years later, he dropped his single “Let ‘Em Know,” followed by the album, and even opened the 2026 BET Awards. The single topped at No. 1 on the Billboard R&B and hip-hop charts.
T.I. first came into the music industry in the early 2000s with popular hits “Bring ‘Em Out” and “Whatever You Like.” His career spans two decades and includes three Grammy wins and other accolades. His reason for the decision is simple. He told PEOPLE, “I’ve gotten everything I prayed for” in his career. Now he’s ready to pass the mic to his two sons who are also rappers.
