| Hello Urban Radio,
From October 13 through October 30, Georgians can vote early ahead of Election Day on November 3. Make sure you’re ready to vote. This election comes at a time when decisions made at the state level are having real consequences for communities across Georgia. Who gets to make the rules about voting? Georgia is facing ongoing debates over redistricting, voting procedures, and access to the ballot. Understanding how those decisions are made, and who has the authority to make them, matters when you’re deciding who to support on your ballot. Who has a say in your healthcare? Black maternal health remains a major concern in Georgia. Questions about access to doulas, midwives, hospitals, and maternal care are connected to decisions made by state leaders and healthcare systems. And what could data centers mean for your power bill? Georgia’s data center growth is increasing demand for energy and infrastructure, raising questions about utility costs and who ultimately carries those costs. These issues may look different on paper, but they have something in common: decisions made by people in power can shape what happens in our communities. Early voting is your opportunity to take time with your ballot, learn about the candidates and issues on it, and decide how you want to participate. Know the issues. Know your ballot. Know your options. In Atlanta? Join us this Saturday! Black Voters Matter is joining No Kings: Vote Early Atlanta for voter information, community resources, and a Party at the Polls. Saturday, October 17 | 10 AM–4 PM Let’s make sure our communities have the information they need to participate. In Solidarity, Black Voters Matter |
