95.5 WSB (WSB-AM/WSBB-FM) raised a record $2.3 million to benefit the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta during the 26th annual 95.5 WSB Care-a-Thon on July 23-24.
The 38-hour broadcast united listeners across Georgia in support of children battling cancer and blood disorders, with donations helping fund patient and family support services, groundbreaking research, and physician training through the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center’s nationally recognized Fellowship Program.
“Thanks to the generosity of the 95.5 WSB listeners and the passion and commitment of our team, we had another record-breaking year,” said Ken Charles, 95.5 WSB Director of Operations, Branding and Programming. “I couldn’t be prouder of what we achieved over these incredible and inspirational 38 hours.”
Since 2001, the 95.5 WSB Care-a-Thon has raised more than $38 million for the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, with a sizable portion of those funds supporting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s family support team. This team works to care for the children and their families to help ensure their cancer journey is as positive as possible.
The family support team is invaluable to the patient experience and includes a variety of roles — including child life specialists, teachers, chaplains, social workers, and music therapists – a number of which are donor funded. Additionally, the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center has grown to be one of the largest pediatric hematology/oncology Fellowship Programs in the country, relying on donor support to educate and inform the medical innovators and leaders of tomorrow.

The money raised during this record-breaking event will help us advance research, discover new therapies, and enhance care for the thousands of patients we serve each year,” said Janine Musholt, President, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation. “To everyone who volunteered, donated, planned, and bravely shared your story – you are changing the trajectory of childhood cancer and blood disorders and giving more children the chance to dream about their futures.”
This year’s two-day marathon radio event was hosted by Scott Slade, Clark Howard, Eric Von Haessler, Chris Chandler, Mark Arum, Erick Erickson, Shelley Wynter and the 95.5 WSB team. It featured staff and patient families from across Georgia who shared inspiring stories of hope and resilience. Donations are welcome year-round and can be made at wsbradio.com/careathon/.
