iHeartMedia Chicago’s WGCI 107.5 will celebrate longtime afternoon host Tone Kapone with the launch of “Tone Kapone Day,” a new live event set for Friday, May 29, at the House of Blues Chicago.
The inaugural celebration is designed to bring the station’s on-air energy into a live setting, featuring DJs, surprise guest appearances and a performance by R&B artist Jacquees. The event will be hosted by Tone Kapone and include appearances from his “What More Can I Say” podcast co-hosts Keke and Zach Boog.
Station leadership said the event recognizes Kapone’s impact on both WGCI and the Chicago community. Kashon Powell, Vice President of Programming, described the host as “integral to not only WGCI, but the entire city of Chicago.” The event is expected to draw more than 1,000 attendees for a night centered on music, culture and community. Doors open at 8pm, with programming scheduled from 9pm-1am.
