Urban One Dallas has announced a series of leadership appointments for its Dallas-Fort Worth radio cluster following the company’s acquisition of Service Broadcasting. Maurice Potts has been named Vice President and General Manager, Karl Whittingham has been promoted to Director of Sales, and Kevin Jenkins joins the company as Local Sales Manager. The cluster includes KBFB-FM (97.9 The Beat), KRNB (Smooth 105.7) and KKDA-FM (K104).
Potts steps into the market leadership role after serving as General Sales Manager for the past three years. A nearly 15-year Urban One veteran, he has led revenue growth initiatives and strategic partnerships while also serving on the Texas Association of Broadcasters Board of Directors.
Whittingham assumes the Director of Sales position after holding multiple leadership roles within Urban One. The company said his experience and knowledge of the Dallas-Fort Worth market will help drive continued growth and marketing solutions for clients.
Jenkins joins Urban One Dallas following the acquisition of Service Broadcasting. Most recently Executive Vice President of National Sales for Service Broadcasting, he brings extensive market relationships and experience developing revenue strategies to his new role.
Regional Vice President Doug Abernethy called the addition of the Dallas stations to the Radio One portfolio “monumental,” saying the leadership team combines deep local roots with a proven record of success.
“I’m honored to lead Radio One into its next chapter in the Dallas-Fort Worth market,” Potts said. “As we bring together these iconic brands, I look forward to leading our talented team as we build on their legacy by creating exceptional experiences, meaningful connections, and innovative opportunities that serve our listeners, partners and the communities we proudly serve.”
