
African American Women in Cinema is proud to announce the launch of its educational mini-tour featuring the keynote panel, “The Politics of Black Women in Film.” This timely and dynamic conversation explores the intersections of culture, authorship, and representation in the global film industry, centering the voices and leadership of Black women shaping contemporary media. The tour officially kicks off at the Cannes Film Festival on May 19, 2026 at 4:30 PM at Pavillon AfroNova, followed by an exclusive VIP Reception from 6:30 PM–8:30 PM (CET), bringing together filmmakers, executives, creatives, and cultural leaders for an evening of dialogue and connection.
The panel will be moderated by Emmy-nominated Editor Princess A. Hairston, whose acclaimed work spans PBS, Netflix, Sundance, and major political and cultural campaigns, reflecting a deep commitment to storytelling with impact. She will be joined byLamonia Brown, an Entertainment Executive and film festival strategist known for her leadership in shaping major cultural film platforms and developing content ecosystems across television, festivals, and studio initiatives; and Dr. A’Cire Newby, an award-winning filmmaker, media personality, and advocate whose multifaceted career spans radio, film production, television, and activism focused on women’s empowerment.
