Mayor Demings & Star 94.5’s Elroy Smith
Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings has officially proclaimed June 15, 2026, as “STAR 94.5 – The Soul of Orlando Day.” The proclamation honors STAR 94.5 (WCFB-FM), Orlando’s Only R&B and a Cox Media Group station, for more than three decades of service to Central Florida through broadcasting, community outreach, education, and cultural programming.
The proclamation recognizes STAR 94.5’s 30-plus-year role as a leading voice in Central Florida, serving audiences through music, public service initiatives, educational programming, and community engagement.
Over the years as Orlando’s premier destination for R&B, STAR 94.5 has supported charitable efforts across the region, helped provide holiday meals to thousands of families, raised scholarship funds, promoted breast cancer awareness, assisted disaster relief efforts, and partnered with local organizations working to improve quality of life in Central Florida.
The station has also convened conversations around wealth building, mental health, homeownership, career advancement, and domestic violence awareness, while highlighting culture and heritage through Black History Month programming and other community-focused initiatives designed to inform, connect, and inspire listeners.
