Washington radio personality, TV host and jazz vocalist Angela Stribling passed away on Saturday. Stribling hosted Pillow Talk With Angela on WHUR (96.3).
Stribling’s broadcasting career began in Washington as a news intern at WTTG and WOL. She later worked in programming and sales at WOL before joining WHUR. She also worked for BET, where she co-hosted Screen Scene and filled in for Donnie Simpson on Video Soul. She also co-hosted Jazz Central with Ramsey Lewis and Lou Rawls and later appeared locally on WJLA’s Let’s Talk Live!.
Beyond broadcasting, Stribling was a jazz vocalist and accomplished voiceover artist. She performed internationally and released the albums Angela Stribling…Live and Tokyo Sundays.
Paul Porter posted on Facebook and said: I first met Angela Stribling, in 1983. Always the bright light in the room. Always the friend you would call when you needed a good word. Always Angela. What a life led. You touched so many. May you rest in forever peace.
