The Oct. 3, 1949 Historical WERD Atlanta opened in its new home location, a few blocks down from its original location. 236 Auburn Avenue “The Atrium on Sweet Auburn” Suite 100 is now the home of the digital broadcast and podcast station. Members of the chapter who are skilled in different sectors of the industry will work with training children and veterans on an individual basis on the various levels of Podcasting. Classes are set to begin in mid June. The location is not only a studio but also serves as a historical space displaying antique equipment that radio personnel of the past would have used and the styles of radio pieces of equipment they would broadcast to in many neighboring homes. WERD streams 24/7.
This one of a kind Atlanta historical entity will also have on the brick wall display very soon; members of the metropolitan Atlanta and Georgia area who have been inducted into the National Black Radio Hall of Fame. There is also space in the home facility to have many indoor functions from intimate inside parties to also having a rooftop overlooking the night sky.
