American Public Media’s Marketplace has named Kimberly Adams as the next host of its weekday program Marketplace Morning Report, effective June 8. Adams, currently Senior Washington Correspondent and host of the “Make Me Smart” podcast, succeeds David Brancaccio, who has hosted the program for 13 years. Brancaccio will remain with Marketplace as a special correspondent focusing on long-term economic trends.
Adams has spent more than a decade with Marketplace, covering the intersection of politics and the economy from Washington, D.C., and contributing across multiple programs, including Marketplace Tech and Call to Mind. She has also built a following for her ability to explain complex economic topics in an accessible way.
Before joining Marketplace, Adams worked as a freelance journalist based in Cairo, earning recognition from organizations including the National Association of Black Journalists and the Religion Communicators Council for her reporting on the aftermath of the Arab Spring.
Neal Scarbrough, Vice President and General Manager at Marketplace, said Adams has developed a strong connection with audiences through her reporting and hosting roles. Brancaccio praised her focus on how economic policy impacts households and her commitment to fact-based journalism.
