RAB reports radio’s first quarter finances, finding that revenue was flat in the first three months of 2013, compared to Q1 2012. Overall revenue added up to approximately $3.5 billion, basically the same as a year ago. Spot revenue fell by two percent to just over $3 billion. Digital revenue was up nine percent to $179 million while off-air revenue grew by five percent to $338 million.
RAB says Ad spending from Communications/Cellular companies jumped by 36 percent in Q1 to become the top advertiser in the quarter, followed by TV/Network/Cable Providers (down 3%) and Automotive (down 20% in Q1).
