Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 6:30pm Radio One Cleveland’s radio stations 93.1 WZAK, Z1079, PRAISE 1300 and NEWSTALK 1490 will gather and invite the Cleveland community to a “Victory Vigil”, in honor of Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight the three young women held captive for more than 10 years. The purpose of the vigil is to celebrate the safe return of these 3 women and bring awareness to other missing people and their families.
The vigil will feature guest speaker and victim advocate Yvonne Pointer along with Z 1079 air personality and Radio One Cleveland Operation Manager Colby Colb and 93.1 WZAK personality Sam Sylk. At 7:00pm, participants will march across Veterans Memorial Bridge beginning at W. 25th Street & Detroit heading towards W. 9th Street and Superior. “We are so excited to see Amanda, Gina and Michelle safe at home with their family. So many of our listeners wanted to do something for them so we decided to march over one of Cleveland’s most iconic bridges to honor these women and all the other missing and their families.
There is a lot of hope in Cleveland right now ”, says Colb . Radio One Cleveland has also created an interactive platform “Letters of Love”. for people to express words of encouragement.
