On the heels of its launching 96.9 WBZJ FM, Curtis Media Group has announced Chris Malone will lead the new Urban Adult Contemporary station as program director starting January 21st. Malone is currently brand manager and afternoon drive personality at WQOX-FM in Memphis and has additional responsibilities at Entercom Radio’s five-station cluster in that same city. His prior experience includes on-air, production and promotion positions at WSNA-FM and Clear Channel Television, also in Memphis.
“Chris Malone has been on our radar for about two years,” said Phil Zachary, President and COO of Curtis Media Group. “He’s smart, disciplined and clearly a radio junkie and workaholic. Chris will fit in perfectly with our corps of world-class program directors, and I’m confident he’ll make The New 96.9 an immediate ratings contender.” Malone will host the afternoon show.
