Based on the national #BlackPantherChallenge movement, 107.3 JAMZ has joined forces with New Foundations Home for Children. The goal is to raise enough funds to take fifty kids from NFHC’s residential programs and their chaperones to see Marvel Studios’ Black Panther, notable for featuring a black male lead as the hero along with a predominantly black cast in a big blockbuster film.
A goal of $1,000 has been set to cover taking the children from New Foundations to see the superhero film — starring Anderson, SC, native Chadwick Boseman — at a local theater in Anderson. Funds will specifically be used to 1) purchase tickets for the group, 2) provide refreshments for the kids and their chaperones, and 3) help with transportation to and from the theater. Any leftover funds will be donated directly to New Foundations.
Tone Hollywood, JAMZ midday host (and self-professed comic geek), has long looked forward to the film’s release and is well aware of its significance to the black community. Tone immediately thought of New Foundations, contacted Kris Greenway (Development Coordinator), and leapt into action. Tone shared: “I am super excited to provide an opportunity for kids to see a super hero movie that can inspire the youth of today! The impact of this movie will be felt for generations.”
A donation of ten dollars would cover the cost of one ticket, and another five dollars would buy their snacks. Tone will be encouraging listeners, local businesses, and community leaders to contribute to this Go Fund Me campaign via on-air messages, on 1073jamz.com and on social media platforms:
