Chuck Brown, widely known as the “Godfather of go-go”, died Wednesday of pneumonia at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Hospital spokesman Gary Stephenson confirmed Brown had died after a hospital stay that started almost a month ago on April 18.

Thanks to Brown, go-go music was uniquely identified with Washington. That’s where he continued to play the city’s club circuit to a loyal audience later on in his career. Brown, along with his group The Soul Searchers, was probably best known for their hit “Bustin’ Loose,” which spent four weeks on top of the R&B singles chart in 1978.

Pastor Marvin Winans was robbed and carjacked at a Detroit gas station Wednesday afternoon.

Winans was at a Citgo Gas Station when four men followed him out and assaulted him while he was pumping gas. They punched him and ripped off his pants during the incident. They also took his purple Infiniti QX56.

The license plate number on the vehicle is 0DRT73. Detroit Police are searching for the suspects. Winans was not hurt in the incident.

Although Facebook is widely used, few users surveyed in an Associated Press-CNBC poll claimed to click on the site’s ads or purchase the virtual goods that make money for the site.

More than 40 percent of American adults log in to the site to share news, personal observations, photos and more at least once a week. Approximately 900 million people around the world use Facebook. Many of these users don’t think very highly of Facebook or trust it to keep their information private.

In the poll of U.S. adults published Tuesday, only 13 percent said they trust Facebook “completely” or “a lot” on the basis of keeping their information private. 59 percent said they trust Facebook “only a little,” or “not at all.”

83 percent of those surveyed said they “hardly ever” or “never” click on the ads on Facebook.

On May 15, 2011, Egypt Cares Family Foundation, in partnership with Atlanta’s #1 Radio Station, V-103 FM, Black Opal Cosmetics, and Hair Design by Future Vision Salon presented the 3rd Annual “Egypt’s Mommy Makeovers” Celebration.

10 deserving women from throughout the Atlanta metropolitan areas were selected to receive a day of pampering and complete transformation from head to toe by some of Atlanta’s top hairstylists and make up artists such as: Bridget Criden, Carmen Harris, Tekoa Hash, Nickey Martin, and Trent Simmons.

While receiving their beauty transformations, the winners enjoyed catering provided by Cake Cafe. There is a national movement taking place among Old School Hip Hop artists and DJ’s.  It is called Mama Luke Hip Hop’s Fight for Breast Cancer. They are beginning a national tour to further promote awareness in about 12 cities. They are trying to garner support from urban radio stations across the country. Kango Kid (UTFO) was in Cleveland this past Saturday promoting awareness. DJs Cut Creator, Diamond, Whiz, and hip hop DJs around Cleveland had a mix off. Bow Legged Lou and Paul Anthony (Full Force) are apart of this movement as well. Entercom Communications Corp. today reported financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2012.

First Quarter Highlights

– Net revenues for the quarter decreased 3% to $80.0 million

– Station expenses decreased 4% to $59.6 million

– Station operating income decreased 1% to $20.4 million

– Adjusted EBITDA was flat at $15.1 million

David J. Field, President and Chief Executive Officer stated: “Entercom’s first quarter adjusted EBITDA was flat versus the prior year as operating expenses declined 4%, offsetting the dilutive impact of our extensive 2011 station reformatting on Q1 revenue. We expect these reformatted brands to have a small positive impact on second quarter revenues, with further sequential progress during the second half of the year. Our brand launches and ongoing listener and advertiser related innovation have strengthened our competitive position and enhanced our future growth prospects.”

In April, the Company entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the leading urban station in the San Francisco market 102.9 KBLX-FM (”KBLX”) from Inner City Media Corporation and its subsidiaries for $25.0 million in cash. KBLX is now the fourth brand in the Company’s San Francisco cluster, joining its existing lineup of adult contemporary 96.5 KOIT-FM, sports talk The Game 95.7 KGMZ-FM and classic rock 98.5/102.1 KUFX-FM. Entercom began operating KBLX under a time brokerage agreement on May 1. The closing of the transaction is subject to certain customary closing conditions, including approval of the Federal Communications Commission which is expected later this year.

During the quarter, the Company reduced its outstanding net senior debt by $17.4 million. As of March 31, 2012, the Company had $11.1 million in cash and $592.3 million of senior debt. Net interest expense increased in the first quarter by $8.1 million as a result of the Company’s recent refinancing of its prior credit facility which had very favorable borrowing costs.

The National Association of Broadcasters today applauded the results of a nationwide poll conducted by Harris Interactive which shows that four out of five Americans who own a cell phone would consider paying a small, one-time only fee to access their favorite local radio stations on a mobile phone. The survey, commissioned by NAB, was conducted online between April 18 and May 1, 2012 among more than 2,000 U.S. adults (age 18+).

Poll findings showed:

• Eighty-one percent of cell phone owners would consider paying a one-time only fee of 30 cents (the approximate cost of a microchip) to access local radio stations through a built-in radio chip, compared to 76 percent in 2010. For cell phone owners with children in the home, the number was 85 percent, up from 79 percent in 2010. The percentage of retirees who favor radio chips in cellphones rose to 76 percent from 66 percent in 2010.
• Local weather and music are the top two reasons survey participants would listen to their local stations on their cell phones.
• Seven out of 10 cell phone owners, 69 percent compared to 73 percent in 2010, indicated that having a radio built into their cell phone, capable of providing local weather and emergency alerts in real-time, would be “very” or “somewhat” important. The number was higher - nearly eight out of 10 adults, 78 percent - for those with children in the home.
• Three-quarters (76 percent) of U.S. adults, would use a radio built into their cell phone, up from 66 percent in 2010. Younger adults are even more likely to use such a feature. Eighty-six percent of 18-34 year olds, as well as 81 percent of single and never-married adults (up from 71 percent and 73 percent respectfully in 2010), indicated they would use a built-in radio to listen to local stations if their phone was equipped to do so without using mobile apps or their wireless provider’s data plan.
